Appears In

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and The Island Of Misfit Toys

The Toy Taker (real name Mr. Cuddles) is the former main antagonist until he is revealed to be Mr. Cuddles of the 2001 GoodTimes Entertainment film Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and The Island Of Misfit Toys.

Role in the film[]

Mr. Cuddles is a teddy bear who was originally owned by a good boy named Steven. As years went by, Steven got older and became more interested in other things like video games and unintentionally began to neglect Mr. Cuddles. One day, Mr. Cuddles was accidentally thrown out into a garbage heap which caused the teddy bear (who thought he was deliberately thrown out) to vow not to allow any other toys to be cast out after their owners grew up.

Mr. Cuddles donned an olive green fedora, a green trench coat, sky blue mittens, and wore brown stilts to get around and used a magic flute (it is never mentioned how he got a hold of it) to hypnotize other toys.

After stealing the toys right out of Santa Claus' workshop, Rudolph, and his friends set out to find and stop the Toy Taker once and for all. He succeeds in stealing toys from Castaway Cove, but after plundering the Island of Misfit Toys, the heroes disguise themselves as toys and sneak aboard the blimp he uses as transport. After the heroes are discovered, the Toy Taker sends them through a trapdoor. They fly back on board and seem to corner him, but he escapes to the top of the blimp, followed by Yukon. Yukon is thrown off the blimp by a passing boomerang that doesn't come back only to be rescued by the Bumble below (Who couldn't come aboard the blimp because he was "too...Ginormous!") and the Bumble tickles Yukon.

Rudolph and Clarice then scare the Toy Taker with the light from Rudolph's nose, prompting the greedy hooligan to parachute and escape into the abandoned Peppermint Mine (Which was discovered by Yukon in the deleted scene of the original film before it got replaced by another scene right at the end when it was removed and replaced with a scene of Santa rescuing the misfit toys). After a chase through the roller-coaster like mine which sends the fawns and him flying he seemingly died but when Rudolph told him to surrender he makes a run for it, but he is then lassoed by Yukon Cornelius (armed with dental floss borrowed from Hermey). His identity who is a teddy bear named Mr. Cuddles is revealed to Santa and his captors, and he tells the group his story.

Mr. Cuddles reforms when he hears that his banishment to the garbage heap was an accident. Steven had placed him in the box on the shelf in his closet to save his beloved childhood friend as a family heirloom, and was now trying to find him. Mr. Cuddles is repaired (his seams were coming undone at an increasing rate throughout the film) and given to Steven's young daughter that same Christmas.
