Queen Stormella is an evil ice witch and the main antagonist (later turned tritagonist) of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Movie, as well as a supporting character in its sequel book Rudolph Saves The Sprites.
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Movie[]
Stormella first arrives at Santa Claus's toy factory with Ridley and her wolves, demanding justice for the destruction of her ice garden. When questioned by Mrs. Claus, she holds up an elf's hat, insisting that one of Santa's elves are responsible. After Boone and Doggle, the latter being the owner of the hat, reveal themselves to have obliterated the garden (as a result of them crashing their mail sled), Stormella demands that Santa hand them over, threatening that she will otherwise close her bridge over the Grand Chasm to all but herself and consequently maroon the village's inhabitants. When Santa refuses, the ice queen angrily declares that her bridge is closed and that if anyone attempts to cross it, she will create a storm so powerful that it will "knock Santa's thermal socks off". She then hastily departs back to Ice Castle in her sleigh.
Years later, Zoey crosses the bridge whilst looking for a wayward Rudolph; she is subsequently captured and incarcerated by Stormella. Hearing about her imprisonment, Rudolph and Leonard cross the bridge to rescue her. This triggers a siren in the castle, alerting Stormella. As she looks through her crystal ball to see who crossed her bridge, she cannot see anything due to the light of Rudolph's nose. However, she later catches the two trying to save Zoey, imprisoning them too. She sings "I Hate Santa Claus", much to Rudolph's dismay, before leaving to create her storm.
That night, while Stormella is asleep, Slyly sneaks into her room and steals her dungeon key to free the others, using Rudolph's method of candor to stall her knowing of the escapade. Not long after, though, she jolts awake with the realization that the captives have escaped. She traps and confronts Rudolph and company on the edge of a cliff above the chasm and threatens to freeze them one by one, beginning with Zoey. Rudolph stands his ground, and his nose lights up in a fit of rage. This blinds Stormella and causes her to stumble over the cliff's edge, leaving her terrified and dangling for dear life. She cries for help, and Rudolph instructs her to grab onto his antlers; he and the others then hoist her back up to safety.
Grateful for her rescue, Stormella informs the group that they are free to leave, but Slyly informs her that she must grant Rudolph one wish as repayment for saving her. Ridley corroborates this argument, stating that it is a rule of The North Pole. Rudolph wishes for her to be nice, turning down her offer to have an ordinary nose. Stormella reluctantly agrees, undergoing a change of heart, and redeems herself, much to Ridley's embarrassment. She reassures the group of the conversion before sadly revealing that she cannot stop the storm, as it must wane naturally. She then instructs the group to use her bridge, as it is the fastest way back to the North Pole, before wishing a Merry Christmas to them all.
On Christmas morning, Stormella is pleasantly surprised when Ridley shows her a brand new ice sculpture of herself given by Santa. She later joins in with singing Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and even plays it on the piano at Santa's house.

Trivia[]
- The screenwriter wrote Stormella with Roseanne in mind for inspiration, but she was reportedly unavailable due to her daytime talk show. Although the role ultimately went to Whoopi Goldberg, Stormella's appearance stands as an homage to Roseanne.
- An earlier draft of the script revealed the reason behind Stormella's hostility toward Santa and the Elves: she was Santa's jilted ex-girlfriend and responsible for Santa setting up headquarters at the North Pole in the first place. She even kept his picture hidden under her mattress. However, the producer nixed this idea claiming, "You just can't do that. This is a kid's show."
- In the German-dubbed release, Nina Hagen (who some call the godmother of punk), sings the voice of Stormella.
- It appears that Slyly and Leonard previously knew of Stormella or had encountered her previously before their imprisonment when saving Zoey; Slyly knew of her owning wolves, and Leonard knew another entrance into Ice Castle.
- In the book Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: A Retelling of the New Animated Movie, Stormella's fate is different from that of the film. In the book, she falls off the cliff to an unknown fate.
- Both of Stormella's voice actresses added their voices to The Lion King; Whoopi Goldberg (the speaking voice) was the voice of Shenzi, while Carmen Twillie (the singing voice) did the female English vocals for the opening version of "Circle of Life."
