This article is about the character from the 1998 film. For the character from the 1964 film, see Donner (Rankin/Bass)
Donner is a minor character in Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Movie and it's sequel book Rudolph Saves The Sprites and is one of the Flyers on Santa Claus's sleigh team. Unlike the Rankin/Bass version of the character he is not the father of Rudolph. But like the Rankin/Bass version of him he is part of the sleigh team.
Appearances[]
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Movie[]
Donner is first seen in the film along with the rest of the Flyers guiding Santa's sleigh off to deliver presents on Christmas Eve.
He then appears briefly years later sitting near Blitzen and Mitzi watching the Junior Reindeer Games.
Donner is last seen once again with the other Flyers pulling Santa's sleigh on Christmas Eve, this time with Rudolph leading them through Stormella's blizzard using his red nose to light the way before going to Santa's home where he is seen dancing with the other reindeer and elves.
Rudolph Saves The Sprites[]
In this book (which takes place after the film), Donner along with the other Flyers, prepares to go with Santa to find the Sprites of the Northern Lights after they failed to appear at the winter celebrations to perform their light show.
Appearance[]
Donner has dark brown fur, brown eyes with dark circles around them, a dot on his forehead, and blonde hair. Like all Flyers, Donner wears a Medal of Valor.
In Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: A Retelling of the New Animated Movie and Rudolph Saves The Sprites, Donner has dark brown fur and lacks his Medal of Valor.

- Donner's name means Thunder in German.
- His voice actor Matt Hill also voices Arrow as an teenager.
- In the film's novelisation, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: A Retelling of the New Animated Movie, Donner's position on the team has changed, on the front cover, he is at the back of the team with Blitzen rather than at the front as he was in the film and instead Dasher and Dancer are in front, on the last page of the book, Donner remains at the back, this time joined by Dancer as Blitzen is at front with Dasher.
